Major Capital Improvement Projects underway across the district this summer

Summer may have just started but major capital improvement projects are well underway across the Poughkeepsie City School District that will transform the student experience for years to come.

The list of projects this summer poised to be completed by fall includes a full auditorium renovation at Poughkeepsie High School; HVAC upgrades at many buildings including the middle and high schools; Innovation Lab installations at four elementary buildings; outdoor site work; and even the beginning of a roughly 14-month project that will result in an elevator installed at Clinton Elementary. That's in addition to projects that will follow immediately during next school year, including a full auditorium renovation at the middle school, upgrades to the pool facilities at the middle school and an Innovation Lab at the high school.

The district is doing all of this work while continuing to provide a safe learning environment for its summer instruction, extended year program and Bright Lights Community Schools summer experience.

Today, July 9, Superintendent of Schools Gregory Mott toured some of these areas and the summer school classrooms at Poughkeepsie High School to see how the summer is progressing. Take a look at the construction's progress in the video above and be on the look out for updates later in the summer.
